Brenda Gale Warner
From the time she was a little girl in Hamilton, art and drama have been Brenda’s passion. Primarily self-taught, Brenda also acquired her formal techniques in
a number of artists' studios including heading the elementary education department at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
In working with large canvasses, Brenda discovered Expressionism – the perfect voice for her emotional expression. Her paintings encapsulate a full and diverse palette and spectrum.
Having travelled throughout Europe and lived across Canada, it was Brenda’s sojourn in Manitoba that triggered her interest in photography. She likes to work primarily in sepia and black and white.
Brenda's works can be found in corporate, public and private collections across Canada, the United States and Europe. The City of Ottawa recently chose three paintings to represent the Downtown Rideau Art and Culture District. Brenda has also shown in New York and Rome where she was recently chosen one of the Top Ten Exquisite Expressionists, Women Who Paint, by Artrom Gallery.
Now residing in Ottawa, she and her gallery, Galerie 240, welcome and embrace all artists.
Kita Szpak is a Canadian author and speaker, whose book “You’re Special Wherever You Are” (2009) was a finalist in the 6th Annual U.S. Indie National Excellence Awards in the Children’s Inspirational/Motivational category last June.
Transitioning into the “big people” sphere, Kita co-wrote “Tipping Point to Happiness” in 2010, undertook a U.S. radio campaign, and earned the title of “happiness expert” along the way. Her latest work, “The SIMPLE Life: Shiny Objects Not Required” is expected out this year.
The children’s stories keep coming too. “My Big Brother is a Cat” joins her menagerie of animal characters conveying her message of celebrating your unique gifts; and finding your purpose in a sometimes-too-shiny world.
Kita works as a publicist and has two honours degrees in Education and German (Queen’s University), and business management certification from the Queen’s University School of Business. And in the spirit of doing what makes her happy, Kita has qualified for the Boston Marathon.
